Documentation and FormsFor Marriage Ceremonies, please ensure you have the following documents with you at our first meeting. You can download these forms by clicking the links. Please complete the forms before our meeting but do not sign them. The signatures must be witnessed by me. This document must be received by me no later than one month and one day prior to your wedding day. You also need to present at this first meeting the following documentation. - Your Original Birth Certificates (If born outside Australia and Birth Certificates are unavailable, bring your passports) plus photocopies. If you have been married previously; - Original Decree Nisi / Original Certificate of Divorce, plus photocopies. * As from 1 July 2002, the Family Court and Federal Magistrates Court ceased issuing separate documents for a decree Nisi of dissolution of marriage and a decree absolute. They now issue a document headed "Certificate of Divorce" which contains the date of both the decree Nisi and the decree absolute. This certificate is evidence of divorce for the purposes of solemnising a marriage (see section 42(10)). If you were divorced prior to that date you will need to provide a copy of the decree absolute. Note: Photocopies of documents will not be accepted. If you have been married previously and your marriage ended due to the death of your partner; - Original Death Certificate, plus photocopies. The NOIM should be printed, typed or handwritten in block letters with a black pen. The NOIM may be lodged with me, no earlier than 18 months before your marriage and no later than one month and one day before your marriage. Should you not be able to give one month’s notice for your marriage, and you have a valid reason for this – you should apply for a shortening of time to Registry of Births Deaths & Marriages or your local magistrates court. If you need more information please make contact. |
